This two-channel video installation features a 3D animation of a donkey, mirrored across adjacent screens. The animal appears to walk in opposite directions, yet remains paradoxically fixed in place—a visual treadmill of perpetual motion and stasis.
The work draws upon two distinct cultural archetypes to explore the paralysis of desire and the futility of waiting. The first is 'Buridan's Ass,' a philosophical paradox describing a donkey that starves to death because it cannot choose between two equally appealing piles of hay. This image serves as a metaphor for the existential freeze caused by limitless choice and the indecision that haunts the human condition.
The second reference is the 'Messiah’s Donkey,' a symbol of imminent redemption and the arrival of a savior. In this loop, however, the arrival never occurs. The donkey walks endlessly toward a horizon it cannot reach, suggesting that the Messiah is not coming. By merging these symbols, the piece creates a meditative study on the cyclical nature of hope and disillusionment, inviting the viewer to contemplate the space between the paralysis of choice and the endless wait for a salvation that may never arrive.
