SERPENT

2022
3D printed PLA, Bronze

Crafted from biodegradable PLA through 3D

printing technology. Originating from a digital

file, this piece reimagines the serpent from the

Book of Genesis, a symbol rich in connotations

of life's inception, the pursuit of wisdom,

and the allure of forbidden knowledge. The

sculpture's sinuous form captures the essence

of the serpent's role as both a harbinger of

enlightenment and a tempter towards the

unknown.

Distinctively, the final segment of the sculpture—

the atlas bone—is rendered in bronze, a material

revered for its durability, estimated to last

approximately 5,000 years. This choice is not

merely aesthetic but deeply symbolic. In Judaic

tradition, this bone is identified as the "luz" bone,

believed to be indestructible and to retain all of

an individual's spiritual and physical essence. It

is said that, in the time of resurrection, the body

will regenerate from this singular, undying bone.

visual meditation on the themes of eternal life,

the cyclical nature of existence, and humanity's

perpetual quest for knowledge. It is a reminder

of the profound mystery at the heart of life

and the spiritual dimensions that science and

technology continually seek to unravel. The

integration of modern materials and traditional

symbolism invites viewers to reflect on the past's

enduring influence on the present and the future,

encapsulating a dialogue between the tangible

and the transcendent.
